Thriller film plots are often inspired by real life events, some films are about a historical event, for example Titanic, Schindler's List. Although these are not thriller genre films, many films tend to take a historical event, or any other current news affair real life event to make and create a situation based around (a) certain character(s). By doing this we feel empathetic towards the fictional character (however could be based on real life event/person), we are put in there shoes, in order to do this, the film has to use various camera angles and shot, sound effects, cast etc to contribute.

9/11 is an obvious event which could create a situation for a character, it would create an excellent thriller, sub genre; drama, action, political, the list is endless. The September 11 attacks (often referred to as September 11th or 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 al-Qaeda members hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others.
